Ever come across a 4 year-old kid who likes rojak? I have one at home. A few days ago Mama was relating to me how Ian had his first taste of rojak and liked it instantly.
That afternoon Mama was enjoying some guavas with rojak sauce while watching astro. Ian asked for a piece and insisted on dipping into the rojak sauce eventhough Mama told him it’s spicy. So after a bite, it seemed he liked the tastes so much so he continued dipping into the rojak sauce. Obviously he was experiencing the slight burning sensation on his tongue but never complained about it. Instead he got himself a glass of water. Brave boy eh?
Yesterday after having lunch at home, Mama and I had some ambarellas with rojak sauce. He saw and asked to have some too. So three of us finished the ambarellas; I could see he really enjoyed it. Queer taste for a kid don’t you think?

[...] I think my children have queer taste buds; my boy likes rojak and ‘Tu Kha Chor’ while my girl likes Chikus. I’m sure there are other foods my children love which their peers don’t readily like, just that none comes to mind now. And maybe because they have a queer mom? [...]
